Tuesday

One of the best things of my new job is that my office is about a mile from my parent's house and about a quarter of a mile from my Gramma's house. Today before work I took a load of my laundry to my mom's house. I got it started and Dad put it in the dryer for me so it was ready at lunch time. And I can have lunch with my mom Designs by Nanny !!!

Bill said he fixed the washing machine. The mechanism that is broke has electrical tape around it to make it work. We will see how long it will last.

First day of work

I survived my first day of work. I was exhausted last night and it will take a few days to get into a routine at night especially with Addie. The attorney I am working for had fresh flowers on my desk when I got there. I thought that was very sweet of her to do that. I have a lot to learn but it will be fun. Everyone is nice.

But my washing machine decides to break on the day I go back to work. AGHHHHH I put in a load of towels last night. When I went to go put them into the dryer the washer was full of water. The part that needs to be pushed in so it thinks the lid is closed is completely broken. And I don't know when we can get it fixed time wise. What a day!

Weekend

Yesterday was Addie's birthday party. We had it at McDonald's. It was her choice. She got lots of Spiderman and Batman gifts plus a couple of other things. Nanny and Pawpaw got her a bicycle. We have lots of practicing to do with pedaling.

Today we took it easy. Addie and I went grocery shopping this morning. This little bug rode to and from the grocery store twice. I had to go back because they bag boy didn't put my cantolpe in my buggy. I noticed him on top of the car when I left and then when I was putting Addie in the car at the grocery store he was on the side. Then when I had to go back to the store he was on the side mirror where he stayed the whole ride.

Need creative help

Late yesterday afternoon my in-laws took Addie swimming at the fitness center they belong to. It has an outdoor pool that on Friday evenings and weekends will let you bring the kiddo's to swim. When my MIL dropped Addie off last night she made the comment that we are going to have our hands full when Addie is a teenager. More specifically Bill is going to have his hands full with the boys. She said that Addie attracts all the little boys around here and this happened at the pool. Which I can see this because when I drop Addie off at preschool it is the boys that swarm her and NOT the girls. But Addie loves to play with Spiderman, Batman, cars and such..so she usually has a toy they want to see or they want to show her their cool toy.

Back to where I need your creative help. Bill and I were telling Addie she is like a magnet to the boys. Little boys are just drawn to her. I started calling her a boy magnet to which she replied, "I am NOT a boy!" I need another name to use besides boy...kind of like on the same lines of "chick" magnet. I want to do a layout to document this and need a great title. Thanks for your help!

my baby turned 4 on Tuesday

Addie turned 4 on Tuesday. I can't believe she is 4 now. It seems like yesterday she was just born. We are having her birthday party tomorrow at McDonalds.

My great news

I got a job! I start on Monday, July 28th. I interviewed on Tuesday. This afternoon they called me to offer me the position. It is a paralegal position at a law firm.

I have one more week of freedom. Now comes the fun part in the next week--which is getting Addie used to going to bed earlier and getting up earlier. The last 3 months we have gotten in the habit of going to bed later and sleeping in. I would rather start fighting with her will I am not working than have to do it the first week of work.

Happy Mail

On Wednesday I received this prize for winning the drawing for the monthly challenges at Scrap City . Wendy sent it to me. And she had an awesome card made from a transparency..check out the Scrap City blog for instructions on the card. Look at all this wonderful paper, alpha rub-ons, vellum quotes, shimmering hearts and more rub-ons. It is awesome. I have already used a sheet of the paper and the hearts on a layout!


Then yesterday I received a card in the mail from Alli for winning a scavenger hunt during the online crop at The Shaker Box . I love acrylic stamps and I didn't have these! Can't wait to use them.

I did this layout for a challenge at The Shaker Box. Actually, I made the journal box, photo corners, the other embellishments for different challenges there too. Then the last challenge was to make put it together. The heart flag is a sticker I had that I applied liquid glass to the top to make it shiny.

I am trying to learn how to work GIMP program. It is a freeware program for image manipulation program like Photoshop. On Jessica Sprague’s website she had a tutorial for Photo ShaZAM. I followed the directions she had for Photoshop using GIMP which was basically the same. Here are the reults.....

Summer Fun

I did this layout for 3 different challenges. The challenge at Scrap City was to use the orange and blue for their color challenge this month. The layout design is based on a sketch by Amy at Scrappin Mojo. And the bling was added for a bling challenge at The Shaker Box.

another digital layout

I am trying my hand at digital scrapbooking. I still prefer paper but I have really wanted to learn digital. I do not have adobe photoshop but I am using a program called GIMP. DH doesn't like adobe photoshop and will not install it on my computer. GIMP is a free program. http://www.gimp.org/. This morning I found some tutorials at Scrapbooks gone digital (http://www.scrapbooksgonedigital.com/TUTORIALS/) that I am going to check out later.

I created this layout using a kit by Digital Designs by Rick. (http://digitaldesignsbyrick.blogspot.com/) It is called Hot Summer Breeze Digital Scrapbooking Kit. It is for a challenge at The Shaker Box. The challenge is to do a layout as myself as the main focus.

This layout I did for a challenge at The Shaker Box. I am behind on the two week challenges..this was for challenge 5 -Art Inspired. They had San Giorgio Maggiore by Twilight, c.1908 by Claude Monet painting as the inspiration art work. I found recent photos from our family reunion that had water and I used the dark blue color from the painting for my layout!

Our 4th of July

It was a pretty quiet day. Addie played in her pool this morning. It was a good thing because it started to rain after we came back in. After lunch Addie and I took a nap. I worked on a couple of layouts while Addie watched a movie. This evening we went to the courthouse to watch the firework show. Bill didn't feel well so he stayed at home.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!! I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday!

We went to my brother's in law house tonight to do fireworks with the kids. Addie had a blast, literally a blast!!! Here are a few photos from the evening.

edited: Yes, those are Christmas stickers on the baby! Her Daddy gave them to her telling her Santa Claus was watching her when she was in time-out for not listening!
